Since its founding as a church-sponsored school in 1885, Pfeiffer University has served students who prefer a personal education, endowed
with a full range of activities and opportunities for growth yet removed
from the stresses and anonymity of life in a larger college or
university. By offering programs leading to the baccalaureate and
professional degrees, Pfeiffer fulfills this mission today in the
university community of Misenheimer, North Carolina, and at convenient
sites for professional and continuing education opportunities throughout
the central Piedmont.
The primary focus of the institution is on the academic preparation of
the student through excellence in teaching.
Pfeiffer recruits and retains students whose aptitude and achievement
indicate that they are able to thrive in a caring educational
environment where self-improvement and contributions to community life
are important components of success.
The Pfeiffer graduate will be well equipped to pursue a career or
further study. In keeping with an emphasis on personal development
through participation in a learning community, Pfeiffer provides many
avenues for the student to acquire specific skills, knowledge,
experiences and attitudes that characterize an educated person.
Career planning and job search services
are available to all Pfeiffer students and alumni. Assistance is offered
in identifying career goals and developing job-search skills. Services
include: self-evaluation through individual and group counseling;
vocational values and interest assessment; internship and cooperative
education resources; three annual consortium job fairs (one for
education majors and two for other academic majors); recruiters on
campus; credentials service; job listings; a career information library
including graduate school information; and career development seminars.
The Career
Services Center is located in a suite of offices at room 114 of the
Stokes Student Center.
