Queens University of Charlotte

Queens University of Charlotte, private and Presbyterian, educates students for noble lives, productive careers, and responsible citizenship, all within a changing global community. Queens seeks national preeminence as a student-centered university that enhances the traditional liberal arts with career preparation to provide an education that is both intellectually challenging and practical.

To fulfill its mission, Queens provides its students with opportunities to develop:

BLAIR HOUSE FOR INTERNSHIPS & CAREER PROGRAMS

The Blair House for Internships and Career Programs at Queens University provides an academic forum to help students and alumni translate their liberal arts education into productive careers and noble lives.  We challenge individuals to combine their gifts, academic preparation and experience into a lifework plan.  Through the process of academic coursework and job coaching, the Blair House provides a comprehensive career development educational program to Queens students.

The Queens University of Charlotte internship program was ranked 10th in the country by US News and World Report in 2002.

All students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences at Queens University of Charlotte are required to undertake a three-part internship program, which begins during their sophomore year in INTE 297, The World of Work.  This two-credit course introduces students to the world of work, self and career exploration, job/internship search techniques, and culminates in students creating a resume and cover letter, conducting informational interviews, participating in two mock interviews and doing Internet research.

Upon completion of INTE 297, students are required to complete a two-semester internship with a for-profit, non-profit or public sector organization. Internships can be completed during fall, spring or summer semesters.  Interns are responsible for completing the required work hours, writing two reflection papers, and making a final presentation on their internship. Presentations are conducted before faculty, administration, students, and internship sponsors.
